Attendance Matters

As a school we recognise the importance of good attendance and place a high priority on working with our families to ensure that pupils come to school every day, on time. Research shows that poor school attendance is strongly linked to lower academic achievement; it also affects social development and children’s friendships. We therefore have a dedicated attendance team which includes the Headteacher, our attendance office, an administration officer, our pastoral team and our education welfare officer. We work hard to ensure that everyone carries out their legal duties -

  • Schools have a legal requirement to record attendance and investigate absence.

  • Parents and carers have a legal duty to ensure that children of compulsory school age receive a suitable full-time education.
