Cornerstones is a knowledge and skills based curriculum with a creative edge.  Each topic taught lasts for one half term and always begins with an engaging activity, whether that be a trip, a visitor in school or an exciting demonstration or outside lesson to bring the topic to life and enthuse the children's interests.

All lessons are mapped to SMSC skills which includes aspects of the fundamental British values of:

  • democracy
  • the rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith

Each year group has chosen topics for the year and you can see these below.

For more information about the curriculum please speak to you child's class teacher or visit the Cornerstones website. Cornerstones Curriculum

For Religious Education we follow the agreed syllabus for Humber and East Riding. Click the link below to see the long term plan for this subject.

We also have a responsibility to teach Personal, Health, Social, Citizenship Education (PHSCE), as well as the British Values - Mutual Respect, Tolerance of Different Beliefs and Faiths, Democracy and the Rule of Law and Individual Liberty.  Some aspects of the curriculum do not fit with topics so then they will be taught alone.
